District Superintendent’s Services

The CVES District Office serves as the administrative hub for CVES.

Liaison/Selection of School Superintendents/Consultation & Co-ordination: Co-Ser 001

Liaison

The District Superintendent is available to:

• Facilitate communications between districts and the State Education Department
• Interpret and clarify Commissioners Regulations, Education Law and other policies that may impact education in our region

Selection of School Superintendents

The District Superintendent will assist a Board of Education in developing selection criteria, screening candidates, and presenting a slate of finalists for the position of Superintendent of Schools.

This service is provided without charge except for the incidental cost of the recruitment and selection process.

Consultation & Coordination

The District Superintendent is available to consult with school districts on a variety of education concerns and assist in the coordination of resulting programs or activities. Issues/topics may include:

Reorganization and Merger, Board-Administration Relationships, School Boundaries, Superintendent Contracts, Superintendent In-Service and Professional Growth, Policy Development, District Goal Setting, Teacher Certification, District and BOCES Report Cards, Graduation Requirements, Local Assistance Planning, Shared Services, and Commissioner of Education Initiatives.

Board of Education Professional Development Co-Ser: 650

The Board of Cooperative Educational Services provides staff development programs and activities at the request of participating districts for school board members. The staff development for board members can be customized to meet the needs of the district.

From Board of Education operations and districtwide planning to policy resources, safety planning, and public information, the District Office helps ensure transparent, efficient, and responsive service to our region.

What the District Office Does

Governance & Board Support

• Coordinates CVES Board meeting schedules, agendas, minutes, and public notices

• Supports Board communications, public access to materials, and compliance requirements

Policies & Public Information

• Maintains access to CVES policies and key district publications

• Shares updates, notices, and required communications for the public and staff

Planning & Accountability

• Supports strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts

• Helps align organizational initiatives with state guidance and local needs

Safety & Preparedness

• Provides districtwide safety planning information and required public-facing resources

• Supports preparedness planning and coordination efforts

Calendars & Budget Information

• Posts CVES calendars and time-sensitive public documents

• Shares budget materials and annual reporting resources as appropriate

District Superintendent

The District Superintendent provides leadership across CVES and works closely with component districts, community partners, and state agencies to ensure services remain responsive, compliant, and cost-effective for the region.
